Sista Strut 2017 New Orleans

The Mastectomy Boutique prides itself in officially being “The Pink Basket” Sponsor of the Sista Strut 2017 New Orleans Breast Cancer 3K Walk with iHeartRADIO, Q93, and WYLD98 on April 22, 2017 at Woldenberg Park, New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pink Basket was raffled as a gift to the Sista Strut 2017 New Orleans participant winner.

We were excited to partake in the Sista Strut 2017, where we were able to heighten awareness about issues of breast cancer in women of color. The event recognizes the strength of survivors as well as their family and friends. They have been a great instrument in heightening awareness and, in turn, promoting early detection and searching for a cure.

  • African American women in the US have a 41% higher death rate from breast cancer than Caucasian Americans.
  • African American women are more likely than Caucasian Americans to be diagnosed with breast cancer before age 40 and are more likely to be diagnosed with larger tumors.
  • Awareness of these issues and early diagnoses will help with survival rates.
